June 2007

Each month, Panorama magazine brings you the best from the world
of Porsche. Races, vintage car shows, technical articles, we cover it all!

At Panorama, we never have room for all the pictures we'd like to
share with our readers. Here are some photos that just wouldn't fit
into the magazine this month.

Featured in the June issue is the story of Porsche's unknown Carrera, the 2000 GS GT. Only two such racers were ever built and the first to be seen in the United States in 40 years was displayed at the prestigious Amelia Island Concours this past March. For our gallery this month, we show you Leonard Turner's photographs of other Porsches on display at Amelia this year.

We refer you to the magazine for even more articles. How do you get your copy? Join PCA, Porsche Panorama is a prime benefit of membership!

Joe Buzzetta owns this gorgeous 904. Interestingly, Buzzetta himself drove the 2000 GS GT featured in the June Panorama at Sebring in 1964.

(907 short tail) This 1968 907 won the Targa Florio of that year with Vic Elford driving in what many consider to be the greatest drive in the history of the Targa, breaking the previous year's lap record four time.

One of three factory entries in the 1983 race at Le Mans, this 924 Carrera GT Le Mans was driven by Al Holbert and Derek Bell. This is the only example in private hands; the other two are owned by Porsche.

RS orange roll bar hoops continue the orange and black motif, which extends to the Alcantera-trimmed interior. Seats, carpet, dash, door panels and other surrounding soft surfaces are black with orange for interior trim pieces such as the door lever surrounds.

Al Holbert's famous #14 Lowenbrau 962 is the 1986 Daytona 24-hour winner. It won again the following year and is noted for the fact that it has more than 70,000 racing miles on it.

The subject of this month's feature, the 2000 GS GT filled the gap between the end of the Spyder era and the advent of the 904. It is among the rarest of all Porsche race cars.

This 1953 550 coupe was one of two that competed in the famed Carrera Panamericana as well as Le Mans. It is currently in the Collier Collection at Naples, Florida.

Check out the June issue for the full story on the unknown Carrera they called the Dreikantschaber, a first look at the new 911 Turbo Carbiolet, reports from Tech Tactics and Tennessee Region's unique indoor weekend and two stories of how PCA members found their cars. These features, along with Mike Cotton's European Windows and plenty of Tech Q & A will keep you abreast of what's happening in the Porsche world this month.
