Join Lone Star Region PCA in this 2 day event, Feb 4 and 5, for Driver Education at Texas World Speedway in College Station, Texas. DE events are held on the 2.9-mile long, 15-turn road course at Texas World Speedway, located near College Station, Texas. From time to time the track layout may change to provide a new format for applying your DE driving techniques. Registration for Driver Education opens at noon, 30 days prior to the event. Tech Tactics 2012 Tech Tactics is a day dedicated to all things Porsche related to Tech. From how to balance Weber carburetors for your 1970 Porsche 911S to understanding how your GTS Hybrid works. The event was born in 1980 in the heart of Zone One at the Harley Hotel north of Harford, CT. It quickly outgrew this facility and moved to the Springfield Sheraton where it resided for over twenty years. By the 1990’s it was the premier technical weekend for PCA with some renowned speakers; such as, Norbert Singer, Phil Hill, Derek Bell, and Brian Redman. By 2007 attendance was dwindling and new venue was in order. The event was moved to the Farnbacher-Loles facility in Danbury, CT. This move regenerated interest in the event with over 250 attendees. With the demise of the F-L facility, we have moved again and have changed the direction slightly in terms of the format. Tech Tactics 2012 has become a PCA National event and will be hosted at the PCNA Training facility in Easton, PA. This facility is perfect for a “hands on“ type of event. This facility is used to train Porsche technicians on the intricacies of the new Porsches. It is equipped with the state of the art classrooms with lifts and drive train assemblies which will be available for our event,. Tech Tactics East will be held on February 25 and will be limited to 125 entrants. If the event is over subscribed we plan to hold an identical event on February 26. The day will consist of lectures by PCNA Field Specialists and members of the PCA Technical Committee. When you register, look at the topics covered under each 'colored' class. If you pick RED, you will attend those classes. Since we want to keep the size of the classes manageable, switching classes will not be allowed. This will ensure an ideal experience for each 'student'. If the colored class you wish to attend is sold out, you may get on a wait list or choose another color. FVR Vice-President and owner of the Auto Clinic will again host another spring technical session. Topic of discussion is TBD, but you are always welcome to bring any questions you have about your Porsche. Light refreshments and snacks will be available.

Traditional Drivers Education

The Hudson-Champlain Region will be hosting an Advanced Driver Education event at Lime Rock Park on Friday, April 6th. This is an event for White, Black and Red run group drivers wishing to get maximum track exposure and an opportunity to “test and tune” prior to the PCA Club Races. This event will feature an open track for 1 hour periods and be limited to the first 40 paid registrants.

Zone 13 Concours Judges School: Interested in learning how a new Porsche 991 can compete against a 924S in a Porsche Club Concours event? The Chicago Region will be hosting its annual Concours Judging School Sunday April 22, 2012 at The Porsche Exchange, Highland Park, Illinois. This program will give qualified entrants the confidence and certification necessary for judging at both local and PCA’s highest stage, Porsche Parade. Or, if you are simply looking to demystify the rules for showing your Porsche at Parade this year in Salt Lake City, then this program is for you. In this hands on seminar, we will cover the differences between entering your Porsche in Preparation, Preservation or Restoration classes as well as all subcategories. We will also establish judging standards used in this years Chicago Region Concours scored events. So, if you are new to Concours, already an established judge who is looking to sharpen your skills with instruction from a team of National Concours winners, or simply wishing to understand what the judging teams will be looking for at the local and National PCA level, please mark your calendars for Sunday, April 22 at the Porsche Exchange in Highland Park, Illinois. Beautiful spring weather has been ordered, instructors are changing tires and adding oil, students are washing and waxing their cars. And Putnam Motorsports Park is on schedule to have 20 double car garages completed plus additional paving. Detailed information covering registration, car preparation, driving groups, safety, track and Porsche Club rules and schedules is available on our website www.cirpca.org You do NOT need to register to read and review all this information. If you have wondered what Driver Education is all about come out to Putnam Park anytime between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm Friday, Saturday or Sunday and visit us. Walk around the paddock, look at the cars, have lunch with us, talk to your friends and meet other students and instructors. It’s free! On Saturday and Sunday we will have Taste of the Track; a helmeted drive in D or maybe C group with an instructor for $25.00. Come join ARPCA May 11-13 at “The Glen” located near Watkins Glen, New York, at the southern tip of Seneca Lake. Long known around the world as the home of the United States Grand Prix, which it hosted for 20 consecutive years (1961–1980), it has been home to road racing of nearly every class for over 50 years, including Formula One, the World Sportscar Championship, Can-Am, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, and the IndyCar Series. We run the 3.4 miles grand prix configuration which is enjoyed by both new as well as experienced drivers. Friday is a lapping Day for instructors and advanced students. Saturday and Sunday we will manage a standard DE format. We are planning a dinner at the track saturday evening. Our spousal auxiliary will be arranging activities for those who are not interested in being at the track.
