Welcome to Drivers Ed. graphic image

The PCA driver education program is the most popular program in the Club. The sporting nature of the Porsche automobile and the ability to drive it at speed attracts Porsche drivers to these type of events. These participants, as well as the Club, have expectations that the DE event will be organized and conducted with the consideration of safety for all the people at the event. It is estimated that 20,000 driver's participate in the PCA driver's education program annually. Many regions have been operating successful programs for over a quarter of a century, while other regional programs are in their infancy. The purpose of the DE Advisory Team is to help disseminate the information learned from the established programs to the organizers of beginning programs. The first item on the agenda of the DE Team was to collaborate on a set of "Minimum Standards" to be used as a basic set of rules upon which to build a regional DE program. These standards a minimum in nature, and are meant to be expanded upon as each region tailors their program for their entrants.

Warren Walker

Porsche driving career started in 1992 with the purchase of a 1982 Targa. Several years of auto-cross later a 1973 911 S entered my life and I started time trialing October of 1995. During the first few years of time trialing I worked on the Safety Crew and eventually volunteered to be the Safety Director. Another few years flew by and I applied to be an instructor. Switched cars as I took the "S" off the track and replaced it with a 1973 T RSR look with a stock 3.0 ltr. Last year the Golden Gate Region was able to institute an instructor evaluation program and I volunteered to be part of that team of four instructors. My wife Joan enjoys driving our Boxster, a replacementfor the 1982 Targa which was totaled in October 2000, but restricts her competitive spirit to the tennis courts.
