Porsche Family of the Year Award

This award is presented to a Porsche Club of America family which best exemplifies the spirit and guidelines of PCA. It is awarded each year at the PCA annual Parade. Based on nominations from the various clubs regions, the PCA Executive Council selects the most deserving nomination.

The Porsche Family, Porsche AG and Porsche Cars North America sponsor the award. This award replaced the Larry Spanjol Memorial Award, which was presented to the Family of the Year from 1968 through 1973.

In general, the family nominated should be active as a family in the region. This means that the parent(s) and children should be as much a part of the region as is possible. The children must be twenty-one years of age or younger, and they must be active. The definition of a family, in the terms of this award, is parent(s) and children.

The family nominated must demonstrate the highest qualifications of the evaluation criteria. The family should clearly stand out in participation in their region and the club. They should be true competitors, good workers, excellent organizers and good listeners. Community involvement where the region or club might benefit would also be a positive factor.

Ferry Porsche Trophy

More commonly known as the Region of the Year Award, this award is presented to the most outstanding region which best exemplifies the guidelines and goals of PCA. It is awarded each year at the PCA annual Parade. This award was first presented at the sixth Parade in 1961. This award is sponsored by the Porsche factory and Porsche Cars North America (PCNA) in the memory of Dr. Ferdinand (Ferry) Porsche.

Through the use of a scrapbook or another presentation style, the region "paints a picture" or tells its story for the year. The scrapbook might contain brief narratives of the events, activities, meetings, etc. for the year with photographs from various events and/or people of the region; a statement about the regions aims and goals for the year, their accomplishments and why the region is deserving of the award; listings such as membership statistics (new/retention and total); number of events both social and competitive, as well as attendance figures from the various events; information concerning the regions overall success and accomplishments of its members, PCA in general and the community; community event information including any charity work the region might have been involved with; information on the regions participation, hosting or sponsoring of multi-region events; listings of the regions officers both elected and appointed positions and including a few words about each individuals accomplishments and mention of various outstanding region members in PCA or the community.

The selection of the award-winning Region is based on growth, general improvement or maintenance of high standards in activities, meetings, newsletters, and adherence to, or the furtherance of, the objectives and ideals of the Porsche Club of America. The evaluation categories include, but are not limited to, level of activity, membership involvement, growth and retention, community involvement, newsletter effectiveness and multi-region participation.
