November 2003

Each month, Panorama magazine brings you the best from the world
of Porsche. Races, vintage car shows, technical articles, we cover it all!

At Panorama, we never have room for all the pictures we'd like to
share with our readers. Here are some photos that just wouldn't fit
into the magazine this month.

In the November Panorama we present the new Porsche super car -
the Carrera GT. Leonard Turner brings you the following photographs from Brandenburg Forest. Here are a few of the photos that didn't make it into the magazine.

We refer you to the magazine for even more articles. How do you get your copy? Join PCA, Porsche Panorama is a prime benefit of membership!

The wire mesh engine cover is raised to provide excellent access to the 612 horsepower, narrow angle V10.

Other supercars are likely to only see this view of the Carrera GT and then only briefly.

The narrow center console houses the high-mounted shift lever and a few switches; the overlapping instruments follow current Porsche practice in the cockpit.

The 5.7-liter V10 is mounted in a mid-engine configuration less than four inches above the body pan.

Motorsports director Herbert Ampferer reveals the complex internals of the gas tank, positioned in the car between the engine and the firewall.

Tiny 6.5-inch clutch allows the very low center of gravity of the Carrera GT. Though small, it handles the 435 lb-ft of torque with authority.

Space is at a premium in Porsche's supercar. This tiny compartment in the door is evidence of maximum use of storage possibilities.

Journalists had the opportunity to drive the Carrera GT both on the highway and on the seemingly endless runways of an old Russian air base.

Rally champion Walter Röhrl demonstrates staggering car control with or without the traction control engaged.

A trio of Carrera GTs draw attention at a driver-change station. One can only imagine what kind of commotion three of these cars would cause at the local BP.

Porsche's first supercar for the street since the 959 easily exceeds 200 mph.

See the November issue of Panorama for the full story on our first drive in the Carrera GT, an account of the Targa Newfoundland Rally, an interview with Karl Ludvigsen, whose update of Porsche: Excellence Was Expected was released in late September, Bill Oursler's review of 40 years of 911 racing, a preview of the Fort Worth 2004 Porsche Parade and more.
