June 2004

Each month, Panorama magazine brings you the best from the world
of Porsche. Races, vintage car shows, technical articles, we cover it all!

At Panorama, we never have room for all the pictures we'd like to
share with our readers. Here are some photos that just wouldn't fit
into the magazine this month.

Featured in the June issue is coverage of Porsche's fabulous Rennsport Reunion II weekend at Daytona International Speedway in April--a target rich environment for Panorama photographer Leonard Turner. For this month's gallery we present an album of photos from the weekend proving "it's not just the cars, it's the people."

We refer you to the magazine for even more articles. How do you get your copy? Join PCA, Porsche Panorama is a prime benefit of membership!

If you owned a Sunoco car, where else would you buy gas? The 966 spyder was built by Kevin Jeannette in the summer of 1990. Today it is owned by Stephen Bartkiw.

Six-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans Jacky Ickx with Brian Redman, whose history with Porsche is equally memorable. Ickx was honored at Rennsport for his contributions to the sport, while Redman produced the event in conjunction with Porsche Cars North America.

During Porsche's 50th anniversary year in 1998, the GT1 98LM came home first and second in the overall standings at Le Mans, the last Porsche win at the Sarthe.

The longtail 908 owned by the Collier Collection won at Spa in 1969 with Jo Siffert and Brian Redman co-driving. It was the first year Porsche won the World Manufacturers' Championship.

In 1954, Spyder 550-04, with Hans Herrmann aboard, won its division of the great Carrera Panamericana road race in Mexico. Today it belongs to the Porsche Museum.

Two American drivers, David Murry and Hurley Haywood, sign the Rennsport Reunion poster during an extended driver autograph session.

Walking into any of Daytona's garages was like entering an automobile museum.

Eternally youthful, the 56-year-old Porsche Number One takes to the track with Porsche Museum Director Klaus Bischoff at the wheel.

Indy 500 winner and team owner, but also a winner in Porsches, Bobby Rahal signs an autograph for an enthusiastic fan.

On Saturday night at Rennsport, 600 PCAers celebrated the occasion with a banquet. At the podium and projected on the big screens is PCA National President Tom Bobbitt.

Check out the June issue for the complete story on Rennsport Reunion, along with a profile on Dan Gurney and his time at Porsche, a review of Porsche's 40 Jahre 911 compact disc, Allan Caldwell's "The Long Hot 911 Summer" discussion of oil temperatures and more.
