July 2004

Each month, Panorama magazine brings you the best from the world
of Porsche. Races, vintage car shows, technical articles, we cover it all!

At Panorama, we never have room for all the pictures we'd like to
share with our readers. Here are some photos that just wouldn't fit
into the magazine this month.

Featured in the July issue is a story on the 25th anniversary of Zone 1's big concours weekend. With a rich tradition of fine cars and fine art, the Zone 1 event is at the top of the East Coast calendar every year. For this month's gallery we bring you some of photographer Tommy Thompson's images from Saratoga Springs State Park, the site of this year's celebration.

We refer you to the magazine for even more articles. How do you get your copy? Join PCA, Porsche Panorama is a prime benefit of membership!

Framed fine automotive art has served as trophies for all 25 Zone 1 Concours. This year all the previous pieces were combined to make a special anniversary poster. The poster was designed and produced by Metro New York Region's Richard Roth.

Before the storm... Registrars Ron and Jeannine Dibb (r) set up for the crowd with help from Dennis Dejonghe (third from right), event chairman Mark Mosher (center) and volunteer Bill Prowse (left)

Key sponsor Langan Motor Car supplied a six-car display to decorate the hotel grounds.

Tons of "tubs" wait patiently in the early rain for their turn at being judged.

Sponsorships raffle items and door prizes provided a big boost for the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, designated charity of Zone 1.

Variations on a theme. Bob Bailey's 1982 slant-nose 930 prototype (left) sits next to John Grunigen's 1986 production version 930 slant-nose.

Tommy Thompson (r), Hudson Champlain member and event publicity coordinator, talks with Todd Sager, president of premier sponsor AWE Tuning, in front of Todd's thoroughly trick 930.

Zone 1 Concours chairs John and Donna Paterk (left) share a laugh with last year's Zone 1 Concours & Rally chari Larry Schmidt and his wife.

Central New York Region stalwarts Chuck (r) and Joyce Gladle react to fellow member Dan Deegan's suggestion that they help out with his car preparation.

Even the littlest Porsche fan got in the swing of things as the 25th anniversary balloon girl.
