September 2004

Each month, Panorama magazine brings you the best from the world
of Porsche. Races, vintage car shows, technical articles, we cover it all!

At Panorama, we never have room for all the pictures we'd like to
share with our readers. Here are some photos that just wouldn't fit
into the magazine this month.

The cover story for the September issue is the annual Porsche Parade, held in Fort Worth, Texas. Photos by Leonard Turner.

We refer you to the magazine for even more articles. How do you get your copy? Join PCA, Porsche Panorama is a prime benefit of membership!

If you're not old enough to run, pedal, or skate, you can still a competitor be. All you need is a willing father, and the courage to endure.

Ok, so it's not a Cayenne, but this competitor is able to extract every bit of the cornering force and speed from his entry in the now-annual kids' autocross

For the first time ever, a PCA Club Race was folded into a Parade schedule, providing Parade goers yet another possibility for competition or just watching.

The antics of Parade MC Mark Shevitz speed the proceedings of any awards banquet, and there is little in the way of props that Mark will forego.

Coming out of the banking at Texas Motor Speedway, PCA club racers get a taste of super speedway driving in the hot Texas sun.

Peter Porsche--at his 27th Parade--is always up for a new adventure. Texas is an obvious location to investigate a new competitive sport with a local flavor.

Getting a good close look at the Porsche's Supercar, the Carrera GT, was a highlight for many Parade-goers. Brought to the Parade by PCNA, hearing the V10 engine and seeing it driven on the track at speed by Doc Bundy, was icing on the Carrera cake.

'4-cam Carrera' is one of those magical phrases that makes the blood race, and the black 356 Carrera that veteran PCA member Bill Jones showed caused enough racing blood to win both the Judges and the People's choice awards"

Tom Provasi, PCA's Vice President, on his way to winning his sixth Parade driving award, several seconds faster than the closest winner of any other class

Inspired by watching a piglet escape from a truck on the way to the Parade, Zone 2 Rep Manny Alban shows up with his own version of a flying pig.

Judy Hendrickson, PCA's national treasurer, vigorously autocrosses her 993, Jellybean, on the spacious course set up just outside the Texas Motor Speedway.

Sometimes waiting for your time to run is more nerve wracking than the run itself. Good organization made grid times brief, and the course, laid out on a large parking lot adjacent to the driver's education and club race events, was tight but fast.

Serious rallying requires serious planning, and Tom Gould and Joe Boucher, overall winners of the 2003 Parade rally, know all the tricks.

Check out the September issue for all the scoop on the Fort Worth Parade, along with the story of Tony Adamowitz's Orphan 911, plenty of technical questions and answers, and more.
