share with our readers. Here are some photos that just wouldn't
fit
into the magazine this month.

"Open 24 hours" says the neon sign in the
Brumos pits, as the crew gets ready for an incoming car.

Octogenarian Paul Newman was the oldest driver participating
in this year's contest but his seniority couldn't
overcome bad racing luck.

Emulating Le Mans, Daytona has added some after
dark spectacle for those who tire of racing around
the clock. A GT Porsche streaks the ferris wheel.

The German-based Farnbacher 911 GT3 Cup car of Wolf
Henzler and company scored a six-lap GT win, marking
Porsche's 59th class victory at Daytona.

The Red Bull Porsche Fabcar (#58) was
the only Brumos car to survive, finishing eighth overall.

It only costs a little more to go first class. Brumos
golf cart set the standard in the pits.

Along with a much friendlier attitude toward racing
fans, Daytona rolled out new glass-backed garages
so that passholders could watch the progression of
work on their favorite race cars.

Sometimes all you could see on the track were representatives
of the Porsche family.

Pontiac engine aflame, the driver of this prototype,
who was unhurt in the incident, had the composure
to bring his car into the pits close to the fire
bottles but away from the fuel rigs.

A pair of 962s take to the track they dominated
for so many years during the "24 Minutes of Daytona"
vintage exhibition.

|
Colin Braun was one of the youngest drivers on
the circuit. A member of "Team 16," he was one of
a trio of 16-year-olds who drove a 911 GT3 Cup car
to a creditable seventh in the GT classification.
