July 2005

Each month, Panorama magazine brings you the best from the world
of Porsche. Races, vintage car shows, technical articles, we cover it all!

At Panorama, we never have room for all the pictures we'd like to
share with our readers. Here are some photos that just wouldn't fit
into the magazine this month.

Featured in the July issue is a report on Leonard Turner's visit to Weissach to study the technical aspects of the Cayman S. He met with engineers and saw the new Porsche in action on the R & D skidpad. Read Pano for the details, but here are some additional photos from the trip to the alligator farm.

We refer you to the magazine for even more articles. How do you get your copy? Join PCA, Porsche Panorama is a prime benefit of membership!

R & D Chief Wolfgang Dürheimer demonstrates the Cayman's wide-opening rear hatch which reveals double the interior space of the Boxster.

Porsche engineers use this fully instrumented test mule extensively in the development of the new mid-engined coupe.

Boxster owners will be very much at home in the Cayman's cockpit.

Philipp Arnold, one of Porsche's experienced test drivers, put the Cayman S through its paces on Weissach's track-sized skidpad.

New Cayman owners will enjoy vastly improved interior space as their cars will be delivered without the test mule's extensive computerization.

Arnold, who has some three to four thousand laps of the Nürburgring's Nordschleife under his belt, powers the Cayman through a turn.

Arnold, who was European Formula 2000 champion in 1998, enjoys his work with the Cayman.

Resonating with both the Boxster and the 911, the Cayman S nevertheless presents a distinctive profile.

Styling cues separating the Cayman from the Boxster include vertical strakes on the rear air intakes.

Check out the July issue for the full story on the Cayman S at Weissach, the first information and photos on the new Porsche LMP2 prototype racer, a conversation with Michael Mauer, Porsche's new chief designer; and the second part of Gagnon and Gregory's brake system article. Be sure and read the special letter from Porsche and the cover story on Porsche's big surprise for PCA.
