If you haven't already sent in your registration form, do so TODAY! Rules regarding registration for the 49th Porsche Parade, to be held in Fort Worth, Texas July 4-July 10, 2004 are outlined in the Parade Competition Rules (PCRs).The Parade Registrar is Wendy Shoffit. The registration fee for the 49th Parade is $125. This fee covers one car, the entrant and the co-entrant. The registration fee is required even if you do not enter a competitive event. If additional participants besides the entrant/co-entrant will drive the same car, they must be family members and another registration fee must be paid. If an entrant chooses to enter more than one car, the registration fee must be paid per car. The ONLY EXCEPTION to this rule is: if a Porsche that is not legal for street use is registered, a second Porsche may be registered for use in the rally only, with no additional fee required. UPDATE: A new change to the Parade Competition Rules was put into place for 2004. Finally, unaffiliated members (neither one is a family, affiliate, or associate member of the other) may now register for Parade together when entering one car, receiving one goodie bag, without being required to pay two separate entry fees. Opening day for registration will be Monday, January 26, 2004. Fill out and mail the Parade registration form. Please type or print clearly. The registration fee must be paid by check, money order, VISA, MASTERCARD or AMEX in U.S. funds payable to Porsche Parade 2004. Any returned checks or rejected credit cards will automatically result in cancellation of registration, with no exceptions. Include only one registration per envelope and mail along with payment of the appropriate registration fee to: Porsche Parade 2004 P.O. Box 5900, Springfield, VA 22150 All fees paid will be recorded and deposited. Payment of the fees does not indicate acceptance of your registration. You will be notified in March 2004 regarding your registration status. In the event your registration is not accepted, you will be eligible for a full refund Transfers, Cancellations and RefundsParade registrations are not transferable. Cancellations are eligible for a 50 percent refund if requested before May 31. Cancellations after that date will not be eligible for a refund. No registrations will be accepted after May 31.EligibilityRules governing eligibility are outlined in the PCRs. PCA members of any class of membership may register for the 49th Porsche Parade. All entrants must be members in good standing at the time of the application and at the time of registration. Only Porsches as defined by the PCA bylaws may be registered. Entrants may participate in the Rally in any Porsche that is registered for the Parade, along with any registered entrant or co-entrant.Entrants and co-entrants may drive only one car in the Driving Event, and it must be the same car that was registered. Selection of EntrantsRegistrations must be submitted via the U.S. mail. Each mailed envelope must bear a postage stamp and a valid cancellation. Metered mail, hand deliveries and courier service of any type will NOT be accepted. Registrations will be accepted based on postmarks. Registrations with postmarks prior to the opening date will NOT be accepted. In case of over subscription the formula in the Region Procedures Manual (RPM) to determine entrants will be followed.Childrens ActivitiesIn addition to the opportunity to explore Fort Worths western heritage and museums, Parade Kids will have a fun packed week of Parade centered activities. Junior Tech sessions, Tech Quiz, Remote Control Car events and the annual Kids Autocross will be held. A supervised overnight stay at Fort Worths nationally acclaimed zoo has been arranged so your kids can experience Texas Wild!™ Parade Kids will have their own room with games, crafts and other activities. Parents will be able to enjoy Parades many sumptuous banquets while the kids gather for their own, supervised, Pizza and Movie nights.If that is not enough, Six Flags over Texas amusement park, and Hurricane Harbor Water Park are located less than 20 miles from downtown Fort Worth. Banquet TicketsPlease indicate the banquets you wish to attend on the Registration Form.
You must order your meal selections now. You may purchase them all as a package or individual tickets. The banquet package does not include childrens (age 10 and under) meals, which must be purchased individually for the Welcome Party, Rally Banquet and Tech Quiz Reception. If you plan to order meals for guests, please include them on the registration form. Vegetarian meals will be available by request. Prior to May 31, 2004 you can get a full refund for meal tickets. After that date no refunds will be given. Other FeesCertain activities, extra name badges and special events will require additional fees. This information will be included in future updates.Headquarters, Hotels and Recreational Vehicle FacilitiesThe Hotel Options Form is available here if you would like to download and print it. Parade 2004 headquarters will be the spacious Renaissance Worthington Hotel at 200 Main Street in downtown Fort Worth. The Worthington is located just steps away from Fort Worths vibrant Sundance Square, its shops and restaurants and the Bass Performance Hall. The Worthington offers plentiful oversized guest rooms and suites, some with in-room mini bars, multiple telephones with data ports and voice mail. The Three-Star, Four-Diamond hotel also boasts two restaurants, 24-hour room service, concierge services, a lounge, an exercise room, a sauna, a pool, rooftop tennis courts and a sky bridge connected to the Fort Worth Outlet Square mall.Information about the hotel and RV facilities located in or near Fort Worth, including at Texas Motor Speedway will be included in future updates. Driving Events at Texas Motor Speedway (TMS)Texas Motor Speedway is located 20 miles north of downtown Fort Worth. Built in 1995, TMS is ranked as the second-largest sports facility in the U.S. The tracks 1.5-mile banked paved oval has 24-degree banking in all four turns and 5-degree banking on the straights. We will be holding two single day DEs, a two-day Club Race, and three days of Autocross competition at TMS.TMS driver and support team facilities include well appointed garages, showers, and RV spaces with electric and water hookups. Cowboys and CultureThe folks of Fort Worth are fond of their museums. As a result, Fort Worth ranks third (behind only Washington, D.C. and New York City) in the number of museums in North America. Because of Fort Worths funding, most of the museums have free admission and they all encourage you to visit.If classics are your interest, visit the world renowned Kimball and Amon Carter Art Museums to see Reubens and Remingtons, Pharaohs and Picassos. Already have those in your hometown? Then shuttle to the colorful and unique National Cowgirl Museum & Hall of Fame (dedicated to "...every woman who ever was a cowgirl, every woman who ever wanted to be a cowgirl, and every man who ever loved a cowgirl ") or the Cattlemens Museum where the history of the ranching industry is portrayed colorfully in film, photos, and cowboy memorabilia. Structures and textures draw you in? Focus on the architectural award-winning Museum of Modern Art. Two blocks away is the world renowned Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass Performance Hall. Officially opened in May of 1998, it is the crown jewel of downtown Fort Worth. Tours of Bass Performance Hall have been arranged during the Parade. Seven blocks south of the Worthington Hotel and Sundance Square are the soothingly splendid Water Gardens, 4 acres of shaped rivers, waterfalls and pools interconnected by stone walking paths. Three miles north of the Worthington sprawl the stockyards, with an indoor rodeo, Pawnee Bills Wild West Show, the Tarantula Railway, and Billy Bobs (the worlds largest honky-tonk). Three miles southwest of the Worthington, the Fort Worth Zoo and the Botanic Gardens beckon. There is a lot to do in Fort Worth. To help you corral the memories you want to bring back from Texas, we will be running a shuttle from the Worthington around the Cowboy and Culture loop on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of Parade week.
