Porsche Parade 2014 at Monterey

Every year the Porsche Club of America hosts Porsche Parade, a gathering of PCA members that spans a week of fun-filled social events and competitions. This year, Parade will be held in Monterey, California. Several locations in the area will host the numerous Parade events.

The Hyatt Regency will be ground zero, where Parade staples such as Goodie Store, Tech Sessions, the Art Show, etc., will be held. Two of the five banquets will be held at the Hyatt.

The Parade Concours d’Elegance returns to the Del Monte Golf Course, after a 24-year hiatus since Parade was last held in Monterey. The concours is Parade’s premiere competition event. Over 200 Porsches will compete on Monday, and there will be a display of historic Porsches and new models courtesy of Porsche Cars North America.

Those prefer to compete behind the wheel of their Porsche have a chance to drive in the autocross, which will be held at the Marina Municipal Airport on Wednesday and Thursday. The site has been described as a medium-size concrete area that isn’t too abrasive. It can be slippery if sand blows onto the course, which is a common occurrence in Monterey.

Other events at Parade include, but are not limited to, a time-speed-distance (TSD) rally, bus and driving tours, seminars, wine and beer tasting, a technical quiz, and even a 5K run/walk. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Parade without a parade of Porsches — that’s scheduled for Saturday.

PCA is holding blocks of rooms at five local hotels, rooms of which are available to book after completing Parade registration. Of course, Parade participants are welcome to stay at any hotel, but it is wise to book those rooms quickly, before they fill up!
