Father’s Day Porsche Parade in Space Coast Region

A parade of Porsches is the perfect combination of driving fun and spreading happiness – to both the Porsche drivers and spectators! On Father’s Day, Space Coast Region members met at Jason’s Corner Restaurant in New Smyrna Beach for our regularly scheduled Kaffeeklatsch and then set out for a special Father’s Day Parade. As Florida is a wonderful place to retire, we were able to cruise by eight Assisted Living Facilities within a 12-mile radius of our coffee spot. A few phone calls alerted the residents of our plans to come by mid-morning on Father’s Day.

Because COVID-19 has kept the residents isolated for months, their windows were full of happy faces as we went by honking and waving our flags and banners. Some residents came to their front porches to watch us cruise by and at one facility, a huge group came outside with their own signs and flags returning our wishes for a “Happy Father’s Day”!

Our entire parade took only 30 minutes to run, however I saw tears in the eyes of some Porsche members and residents alike. It really felt good to give some “no contact” love to those vulnerable members of our community. It reinforced that we really are all in this together!

We’d like thank Tim Buko who’s email about a parade in front of his friend’s Assisted Living Facility sparked this whole event. Keep the ideas coming! New events are awesome!

Every year across Porsche Club of America, members are making a difference with many heartwarming and thoughtful acts of kindness. The above are a few of those community contributions.
