Last year, the Milwaukee Region adopted Hunger Task Force as its charitable partner and Region members filled every space in their Porsches to bring thousands of pounds of food to the HTF facility where it would be distributed to many food banks throughout the Milwaukee community.

In 2020, with the pandemic in full force, Hunger Task Force could not accept food donations but requested financial support so it could go out and purchase high quality, protein-packed food for those in need.

The Milwaukee Region decided to hold a fundraiser to raise dollars this year and wanted to make it a fun and memorable event. A follow-the-leader driving tour was planned. It would start at the south end of Milwaukee’s iconic Daniel Hoan Memorial Bridge which spans the Milwaukee river on the west side and Lake Michigan on the north side and the participants would travel north into downtown Milwaukee.

A minimum donation of $100 was set for PCA members to join tour which would travel along Milwaukee’s picturesque lakefront and Veterans Park, the site of the 2001 Parade concours event. The drive concluded at the Bavarian Bierhaus in a suburb just north of Milwaukee for an informal car show in a socially distant manner.

What’s more, the Region invited the Mercedes, BMW and Audi car clubs to join in the effort. It was a true celebration and display of German engineering and wonderful camaraderie. Twenty-five Porsches led the tour; A total of 51 cars gathered in the car show with the addition of BMWs. Mercedes and Audis.

In total, more than $5,000 was raised for Hunger Task Force. Some of those funds were raised at the Milwaukee Region’s driver education event at Road America which occurred two days earlier.

With this inaugural event declared a success, the Milwaukee Region plans to make this a component of its annual calendar. Kudos to Roger Franzel, chair of the Milwaukee Region’s charitable outreach committee, and Kyle Mahan and Gene Guszkowski, concours committee members.

Every year across Porsche Club of America, members are making a difference with many heartwarming and thoughtful acts of kindness. The above are a few of those community contributions.
