Video: Porsche GT3 makes strong showing in EVO's Track Car of the Year competition

Thursday, February 12, 2015

But is that enough to make it the publication's top pick? As far as track-ready production cars go, not much else can match or exceed a GT3's ability to achieve fast lap times while remaining fun to drive, two main ingredients of EVO's Track Car of the Year (TCotY). Five of the eleven cars invited to the competition logged better lap times, so we can only hope that the Porsche makes up for its, um, speed deficit by overcoming hosts Richard Meaden and Jethro Bovingdon with emotion behind the wheel.

Keep in mind that the majority of cars invited to the comparison are European models or strictly for track use, so the battle between US street-legal production cars in the comparison is limited to the Nissan GT-R Nismo and the GT3. But what a good battle, which you can watch in the video below. Jump to 14:25 to watch EVO fling the GT3 around the track, or make sure you have 35 minutes to watch the whole show.
