Porsche tells GT3 owners to stop driving them after vehicle fires

Thursday, February 20, 2014

On the heels of a handful of new 2014 Porsche 911 GT3 models catching fire, possibly due to an issue with the new, high-performance engine, Porsche is urging GT3 owners to stop driving them until the problem is fixed. Porsche says it will pick up GT3s and transport them to a dealership until the problem is fixed.

Porsche says, “Safety is a number-one priority at Porsche, and the company takes its responsibility seriously. After engine damage occurred in two vehicles in Europe and the vehicles then caught fire, Porsche decided to inspect all 785 delivered vehicles worldwide. There was no traffic accident and no personal injury. Internal studies to determine the cause of the engine damage have not been completed yet.
