Rolex 24 at Daytona less than a week away

Sunday, January 19, 2014

The 52nd Rolex 24 at Daytona - America's premier 24-hour endurance race - is less than a week away, and it marks the debut of a new era of endurance racing. The American Le Mans Series and Grand-Am series are gone after combining to form the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, which starts with the Jan. 25-26 race at Daytona International Speedway.

A few weeks ago Porsche announced which of its factory drivers will race the two 2014 911 RSRs that will compete in the GT Le Mans (GTLM) class, and IMSA has released the full race entry list showing that 12 more Porsche 911 GT Americas run by private teams will compete in the class below, GT Daytona (GTD).

Of course, the Porsche Club of America will be there in full force to cover the race and get you the inside scoop, and we'll be hosting a car corral for Porsche owners in the track's infield. If you're attending the race, feel free to come join us!

If you can't make the race, you can catch it on Fox Network starting at 2 PM EST, ten minutes before the green flag is dropped on Saturday. Coverage will continue on Fox until 4 PM, when Fox 2 picks up the coverage and airs it until 9 PM. Then you can head over to from 9 PM to 7 AM on Sunday to watch live images, in-car cameras, and listen to the announcers. Fox Sports 1 then picks up the coverage until 3 PM, after the race is finished. If you can't sit in front of the TV or computer screen for that long, you can watch a live-stream of the race using Fox Sports GO mobile app for iOS devices.

Until then, take a look at some pictures of Porsche factory drivers wringing out new 911 RSRs and private teams running their GT Americas at the Roar Before the 24 test session earlier this month.
