Porsche Club of America turns 60

Sunday, September 13, 2015

It was September 13, 1955 when Porsche Club of America held its first official business meeting, at Blackie’s House of Beef in Washington, DC. Sixty years ago, at our club’s genesis, it was just 12 members strong. (Sadly, Blackie’s didn’t make it past 2005. Read more about PCA history here.)

It has grown to be the largest single-marque car club in the world, with more than 71,000 primary members — 115,000 when including family and affiliate members. PCA has reached these and many other milestones because all of its members share a passion for Porsche and love to share that passion with others. The result: PCA puts on more than 3,000 events per year in 144 Regions throughout North America, has an award-winning magazine (Porsche Panorama) also in its 60th year, and has a national office that helps to guide membership growth and finds new ways to support and promote club activities.

In case you were not at Parade this year or yesterday’s National Office Open House, we’ve uploaded a PDF file of the information boards that were on display in the PCA 60th Anniversary Museum. It covers everything from membership growth to charter members to Panorama history and more. (Thanks to RJ Wilmoth, PCA National Historian, and his wife Linda Bosko for the tireless research that went into making these infographics.)

In the picture gallery, take a look at Regions who submitted photos with the PCA 60th Anniversary banner.

Thanks to all PCA volunteers and members for making the club possible for 60 years — and many more to come!
