Treffen Asheville kicks off

Tuesday, September 19, 2017

The Porsche Club of America (PCA) will hold Treffen North America, a biannual club event, in Asheville, North Carolina, September 20-24 at the Omni Gove Park Inn. After two successful events in fall 2016 and spring 2017, the third Treffen will be hosted in conjunction with the Asheville-based Appalachian Region (APR), which is the newest of PCA’s 143 local Regions.

Treffen Asheville will offer members in attendance the chance to dine, drive, and explore the area in scheduled tour groups or at their own leisure, providing a ripe environment for Porsche enthusiasts in attendance to live up to the event’s namesake — Treffen means “to meet” in German. Unlike Porsche Parade, PCA’s premier annual event, there are no competitive activities such as concours or autocross during Treffen.

“Our members have anticipated attending this event for years,” stated Vu Nguyen, PCA’s Executive Director. “People were excited to drive the famously beautiful and twisty roads of the western Carolinas and stay at the historic Grove Park Inn — so much so that Treffen Asheville sold out in 58 minutes.”

More than 480 lucky registrants driving nearly 250 Porsches will be seen in and around the community. Treffen includes two days of escorted drives to area attractions and a “Navigator’s Day Off” to explore the shops, microbreweries, and the artsy kitsch that defines Asheville. As a premier destination, Asheville joins the ranks of past events in Lake Tahoe (CA) and Austin (TX), and future Treffens in Santa Ana Pueblo (NM) and Banff (AB, Canada).

“People from across the continent — including several from Hawaii — will be in attendance,” claimed Peter Graham, APR’s President. “We are cherishing the opportunity to show off our community and its amazing natural setting.”

The Porsche Club of America is the world’s largest single-marque car club with more than 120,000 members in 143 Regions. Members who missed out on Treffen Asheville are encouraged to consider the spring 2018 Treffen Tamaya in New Mexico, the fall 2018 Treffen Banff in Canada, or one of thousands of other events hosted by Regions across North America.
