Porsche announces membership program that will deliver cars to your door

Tuesday, October 10, 2017

In the age of ride-hailing apps and car-sharing programs, not to mention the advent of semi-autonomous and autonomous offerings from some luxury auto manufacturers, Porsche has largely stuck with building excellent vehicles that are fun to drive and selling them to individual owners. If you live in Atlanta, starting in November you’ll be able to hail a Porsche with an app, have it delivered to your door, and then drive it until it’s not needed anymore.

For a monthly fee, the Porsche Passport pilot program, in partnership with Clutch Technologies, LLC, gives subscribers access to up to 22 Porsche sports cars, sedans, and SUVs. How much, you ask? Try $2,000 per month for the “Launch” tier of the program and you’ll have eight Porsches at your disposal. For the $3,000 per month “Accelerate” program, 22 models are unlocked. If the program goes well, Porsche will consider expanding it in other markets.

Porsche didn’t provide a full list of cars that will be available for either membership type but did give some insight on what types of cars will be available. Here’s what we know.

Launch: "eight model variants such as the 718 Boxster and Cayman S, as well as the Macan S and Cayenne"

Accelerate: "22 model variants such as the Porsche 911 Carrera S, the Panamera 4S sports sedan, the Macan GTS and Cayenne S E-Hybrid SUVs, in addition to the vehicles offered in the 'Launch' package"

Porshe Passport subscription fees cover vehicle tax, registration, insurance, maintenance, and detailing. And of course "white glove" same-day or future deliveries. Those who are interested and live in the metro Atlanta area may apply via iOS or Android apps or Porschepassport.com. There’s a $500 activation fee plus background and credit checks.
