Video: Watch "Decades of Disruption," then go behind the scenes with Panorama

Wednesday, March 15, 2017

In late February, you may have caught the airing of a half-hour show on CNBC called “Porsche: Decades of Disruption.” It takes eight of some of Porsche most “disruptive” models and puts them on the track at the Porsche Experience Center in Los Angeles, along with some of our favorite personalities. If you missed it, you’re in luck, because it has been released on YouTube.

The cars in question are:

  • 1955 550 Spyder
  • 1957 356 Speedster
  • 1965 911
  • 1976 911 Turbo
  • 1986 959
  • 2005 Carrera GT
  • 2015 918 Spyder
  • 2017 Panamera Turbo

While the Panamera Turbo might be a bit less disruptive than the other cars in the big scheme of things, we agree that each Porsche on the list has been a game-changer for not only Porsche, but also the auto industry as a whole. And near the end of the video, the show profiles the new Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, which is a real disriptor for a Porsche, as it is the first time (outside of the 918 supercar) that hybridization marks the peak of a model range.

Watch the video above to learn about Porsche’s history and a handful of the most important vehicles ever produced by the automaker, from racing legends including Derek Bell, Patrick Long, and Tommy Kendall, former MLB pitcher and race team owner CJ Wilson, and comedian Spike Feresten. That’s followed by an in-depth look at the new Panamera Turbo and Turbo S E-Hynrid.

And when you’re done, be sure to check out the behind-the-scenes article in the latest Porsche Panorama.
