Batery not getting charged.

Model: 912, Year:1966, Mileage:80 +K, Type of use: Street use only I have a '66 912. The battery does not get recharged when driving. The car will run once jump started by rolling forward and popping the clutch. However, after it is shut off, there is not enough juice in the battery to start it. I have purchased several voltage regulators and replaced them. I have also checked the generator and the brushes seem to be ok. I have purchased a second ignition switch and that does not change the problem. I checked the fuses and cleaned all of the corrosion seen.

I have recently bought a 1968 912, chassis number 91212802551 in very good conditions, but noticed it has a different distributor. The box of used parts that came with the car has a Bosch distributor JFR4, Bosch number 0231129031 with a broken cap but in general good running order. The Porsche PET shows a part number 616.602.203.00 as the right ditributot for the car/engine ( still original). How do I match the two numbers ( Bosch and Porsche ) ? Do I have ( in the box )the right distributor for the car ?

I have a coil, but don't know if it is a 6v or 12v (I've had cars with each). It's black in color, Bosch with the typical dark red/brown top. The raised lettering on the botom is TK6A15 and there is a small 9U stamped below that number/letter combo also on the bottom. Any ideas? Alan Bambina
