leaking fuel pump

Model: 912, Year:1969, Mileage:145000, Type of use:Street use only
just rebuilt fuel pump on 912 and one year later it is leaking gas. Is this normal for California gas formula? I would of course like to repair but would prefer not to buy a total rebuild kit. The car is in storage and I start it every 3-4 months. Recommendation please.

Vapor lock?

Model: speedster, Year:1958, Mileage:10000, Type of use:Street use only
We have a 58 Speedster here in Denver, CO. On a hot day the car will run for 30 minutes or so and then simply die, ie like vapor lock occurs. We let her sit for 15 to 20 minutes and she is good for another 30 minutes?Could this be vapor lock caused by fuel line routing problem ? Or must I run race gas in this car ? thanks for the help.

fuel pump

Model: 912, Year:1969, Mileage:120ish, Type of use:Street use only
I'm rebuilding the fuel pump on my 912. I've got it off the engine and opened, but don't know how to release the diaphram. There appears to be a pin above the outside spring. Does this pin hold the 2 springs & diaphram in place? I've tried to knock it hold w/out success.John

My buddy and mechanic has an idea that converting my 1967 912 to EFI will improve performance and reliability. My engine has had some mild upgrading over the years but has always been a tuning challenge. Have you any experience?

What fuel to use on a 1961 356b super

Model: 356b , Year:1961, Mileage:9000, Type of use:Street use only. I have a Porsche that only has 9000 miles on it. 1) What type or grade of gasoline should I use on this 1961 356b Porsche Super (has ? Please add any comments that you think are appropriate.2) Another thing is that all gasoline in my state (Oregon) is mandated to have 10% ethanol. What precautions do I have to take, if any, in terms of the engine performance? Someone suggested adding tetraethyl lead, but that is no longer available in this country.

cleaning a gas tank

Model: 912 E, Year:1976, Mileage:unknow, Type of use:Street use only
Hi, I recently purchase my 912E. The owner had it stored in a garage for a number of years. He wouldn't say exactly how long. I think 5-7 years possibly. The gas did smell varnishy. I hook up an external tank and got the car to run. Horray. How do I clean the gas tank? Also, what else do you recommend I do. Please let me know. Thank you for your time.Russell

Fuel Pump

Vehicle Information: Model: 912; Year: 1968; Body Type: Coupe; Engine (type, size, modifications): 4 cylinder; 1600 cc; 5 speed; Total Mileage: 68000;

I have tried several over-the-counter electric fuel pumps (bypassed the mechanical pump) with poor reliability. I drive the car only on "sunny Sundays" and want to be able to get fuel to the carburetors without having to crank the engine along time to operate the mechanical pump to fill the float bowls so the engine will start.Suggestions/recomendations please.
