Window and other trim discoloration

The car sat in a heavy rain overnight. In the morning, the rear window trim (both sides), door handles and rear spoiler grill were all mottled with heavy white splotches that couldn't be removed with compound or wax. The car paint was ok. My mechanic and a body shop had never seen anything like it. After 2 days back in the garage, all traces were gone; the trim was black again. It never happened before in spite of wahing the car many times. Any ideas on what happened?

cost of a first class, same color repaint of a 1978 SC

This car was repainted years ago and it now chips very easly. What should a first class repaint in the original color be ? The repaint of years ago was also in the original color as far as I can determine. Any suggestions who could do this in the Boise ID area ?

I am possibly buying a 1979 911. The badge on the rear deck lid says Carerra 3.0. The vin# 9119302873. The first 3 indicates it is an ROW correct? Is that why it does not say 911 SC? Also is there a person in Reno NV that can do a pre purchase inspection? Thanks,Michael Langley

VIN ID plate

Model: 911 Targa, Year:1973, Mileage:300k+, Type of use:Street use only
I am the original owner of a 1973 Targa. I have restored the body and had the engine rebuilt a couple of times. The car is my jewel. There is rust on the left rocker panel near the VIN ID plate/sticker. Sand blasting will damage the sticker. Porsche, USA says they will not make a new plate/sticker due to age of vehicle. Any recommendations?

rear plastic name panel

Model: 911SC, Year:1979, Mileage:80,000, Type of use:Street use only
According to my Porsche service manual, removal of the rear plastic name panel is by loosening two screws under the rear deck lid rubber seal. My '79 SC has no screws, or even holes it the metal under the seal. How do you remove the panel?
