Smog and Emissions

Vehicle Information: Year: 1981; Body Type: Coupe;

I have a California 911SC from 1981 which I purchased to ensure I have a solid body and frame with no rust. Now that I am rebuilding the engine I would like to eliminate all the smog and emission components installed originally to meet Ca. standards. How would I go about this or find direction to do so?Thanks

Replacement Alternator

Vehicle Information: Year: 1981; Body Type: Coupe;

I purchased a replacement alternator from Performance Products and it has a lot more wires than the remanufactured Bosch unit that was in the car. The new one matches the part number on their web site, but am a bit uncomfortable just capping the extra wires. Has anyone else installed the PP unit?

Left side running rich

Vehicle Information: Year: 1980; Body Type: Coupe;

My '80 SC has a 40IDA-3C Weber conversion and SSI heat exchangers. At idle the left side of the engine tends to run rich and the plugs get sooty. I have checked the float levels per the 101 Projects manual and balanced the air flow to all six cylinders. The fuel pressure is at 3 PSI. Could I have a leaky needle valve that is causing the flooding? Thanks - Jim B

piston/cyclinder

Vehicle Information: Year: 1983; Body Type: Coupe;

Do you have a preference re. quality/longevity/performance of Mahle pistons and cylinders vs all the other choices such as LN and JE? I'm going to 98mm, retaining CIS, 9.5:1 The Mahle prices are getting a little goofy so I'm looking for an economical alternative. Thanks!

Powder coating

Vehicle Information: Year: 1981; Body Type: Coupe;

I have never seen a 911 case in any other color than stock finish. I suspect a reason for not powder coating is.... Heat Dissipation? Other?I haven't found the answer to this as I have concerning media blasting and such.
