I just recently replaced my thermal reactors with a set of Bursch headersfor a little more power and cooling. My question relates to the poppingsound I hear upon acceleration. It goes away when I am decelerating. Ihave tightened all the headers to proper torque and checked them forleaks. I did not find any. Is this a normal sound you get when youswitch? I never had this with the heat exchangers and reactors.

1981 911SC Starting Problem

I parked the vehicle, about a week or week and a half ago, in the garage and it was running great. I got in it this morning and it cranked very strong but would not start. I tried to pull start it, again without success. Any ideas?

Driving a 1975 911 after Five Years of Storage

I have a completely stock 1975 911 that has been parked in my garage for5 years. The car was abandoned there with 1/2 tank of gas after I wasstranded several times by the engine dying on me. When the engine cooledoff it could be restarted and driven (fuel Pump?). I want to startdriving this car again and would appreciate your advice on what steps totake before attempting to start the engine and drive the car.

Did Kolbenschmidt ever make the 9.8 compression pistons used on the930/10 engines? Also, if Alusil cylinders have been honed, do yourecommend using them without being lapped?

1977 911 Modified Engine

We are building up a 2.7 liter engine with high compression pistons, Ecams and Webers (per Bruce Anderson's book) and are of the understandingthat we will need a distributor with mechanical advance. Any suggestionsas to a source? Is it possible to adapt/modify a vacuum advancedistributor?

I have the opportunity to purchase a 1978 911SC from a person who hasowned the car for 22 years. Other than the chain tensioner upgrade, arethere any other mechanical upgrades that are recommended for this year? Are there any particular problems inherent with this year vehicle that Ineed be aware of?
