average clutch cable life

Model: 3.2 Carrera, Year:1985, Mileage:52155, Type of use:Both Street & Track
How many miles does a clutch cable usually last? And how do you know when it is time to replace the clutch cable?

remove heater control panel

Model: 911 Carrera, Year:1984, Mileage:110000, Type of use:Street use only
The dashboard heater/air controls were not functioning because of corrosion on the exposed "music wire" portions located in the trunk. I sprayed the "wires" with WD-40, and tried to move the "wires" using the dash controls. In my infinite wisdom, I bent one of the "wires" attached to a control lever. Besides releasing the "wires" from the trunk ducting, and threading them into the cabin, how does one remove the "lever panel" from the dashboard?

odometer cable

Model: 964 C-4, Year:1990, Mileage:115000, Type of use:Street use only
My speedometer works, but my odometer stopped. Is this a cable repair.

speedometer sensor

Model: Carrera, Year:1986, Mileage:N/A, Type of use:Both Street & Track
Is there a way to determine if the magnets in the transmission are there? My speedometer and sensor are OK (tested both on my other car) but I get no impulse when on my 86 engined and SC trannied IROC clone. (1975 tub)I am using a GPS for speed measuring but I need the odometer for other uses.

Sunroof

Model: 911 Carrera, Year:1985, Mileage:165K, Type of use:Street use only
I'm about to change the left side sunroof cable and have purchased a new cable. I was told the new cable is from the 964 since the original cable is not available. I've also read that you have to file the new cable slide to fit the old (original) cable channel and that the felt on the cable sheath needs to be removed. Is that correct? Is this an easy task or do I need to have someone install it. Appreciate your comments....

Clutch Cable

Model: 911 Carrera, Year:1985, Mileage:165K, Type of use:Street use only
I just had a new clutch installed and now notice that the "free play" on the clutch pedal is about 3/4". The problem is that the pedal does not always return to the farthest back out position after being depressed and I have to pull the pedal back with my foot. This does not interfere with the operation it is just annoying. Any thoughts as to how to remedy?

Odometer working Intermittently

Model: 964, C2, Year:1992, Mileage:130000, Type of use:Street use only
Hello. My odometer/ trip meter works intermittently. Will accurately move for 10-20 miles, then stop. The speedo was recently, (last year,) repaired and works fine.Would this be something with the cable or within the unit itself? Thanks.

sticky throttle

Model: 911, Year:1987, Mileage:50000, Type of use:Street use only
I drove my 911 for the first time in a few weeks today. Going up a big hill I let-up on the accelerator for second and the revs didn't come down, and actually started increasing on their own! I've never had this happen before. I pulled over, turned off the car and looked at the throttle cable. Nothing looked strange. I started the car up and drove home slowly without a problem What should I do? Thanks
