Alternative IMS Solution for 2006 911 Carrera S & Boxster

As the owner of two 2006 Porsches (911 Carrera S & Boxster), I am familar with the IMS Bearing issue and have researched possible solutions for my cars. Unfortunately, the replacement / retrofit solutions for the 2006 to 2008 engines all seem to require “cracking” open the block in order to access the IMS Bearing.

any info about failing IMS on this cars?

launch edition 997.1 C2S

I appologize if this has been answered, I only found 'launch' in posts related to the clutch.  I'm looking at a 2005 launch edition C2S.  The owner has not had the IMS changed and does not know its condition.  Are the launch edition cars early enough to have the servicable IMS or are they like others in that you have to physically inspect it to know.

thanks

IMS Question

I recently purchased a 2007 C4S Cab. It has a good history, 2 owner car 64000 miles. How worried should I be about an IMS failure?

2005 911 RMS leak

I recently had my oil changed at the local Porche dealership and they told me that my RMS was startiung to leak.  Can i let this go and if i do what can happen?

ECU upgrades for 2005 C4S?

Any thoughts/experience here?...Cobb, APR, Revo, etc

997.2 Porsche Carrera

I am thinking of purchasing a low mileage 2009 Carrera S (997.2).

Question:  Is it true the IMS bearing is no longer an issue starting with the 2009 Carrera or 2009 Carrera S?

Are there any components in the 2009 Carrera or 2009 Carrera S which I should probably watch carefully or replace upon purchasing the car?

Thanks

Check engine light

I stored my 2008 911 Carrera 4S for the winter months inside a non-heated garage, with a battery tender attatched and fuel stabilizer added to the gas. Moved it out to wash, then put it back into the garage.  I didn't have it running for even 5 minutes. Started it the next day, and a "solid" check engine warning and central warning light came on. Drove the car for ~ 15miles to see if it would clear the warning, but that didn't happen. This is the first time that I've stored a car over winter, and was wondering what could be wrong.

Check engine light multiple cylinder misfire

I have an 05 Carrera S with 57000 miles on it.

Recently been getting a check engine light coming on after a cold start. It's showing a multiple cylinder misfire. Cylinders 1,3,5,6. The engine seems to be running normally, no engine vibration or exhaust note change that would sound like a misfire. Cleared the code and comes back on intermittently. Spark plugs have been replaced. Best diagnostics to try?
