transmission will not shift into reverse

When I went to pull my 1979 911 Turbo out of the garage, it would not go into reverse. The shifter moves all the way over to the left and it feels like it's going into reverse, however, when I release the clutch the car only moves forward. I drove the car a couple of weeks before this occured, and I had no issues with the operation of the transmission. The vehicle has very low mileage, I have not tried to drive it in the forward gears because if something broke internally, I don't want it to damage any additionl parts. I also have a couple of additional questions

transmission leak

I have a 2001 Turbo tiptronic that has a small leak in the transmission.  Porsche wants to replace the entire transmission but, I am told that one of the seals needs to be rplaced.  Porsche will not give any information on seal replacements so, from your knowledge is there anyway to eliminate this small leak without purchasing a new transmission?

What is the effect of mixing Pentosin with Wilwood DOT3 570 brake fluid?

My son gave me a newly restored 1971 911, powered by a 1996 993 TT engine and G50 transmission.  The "restorer" installed a Tilton brake/hydraulic clutch reservoir.  I haven't driven this car much because I've spent a year and a half fixing the mistakes made by the restorer.  Last week I noticed that there is no fluid in the hydraulic clutch reservoir.  The restorer did away with the pressure accumulator and, apparently, the pump, as I cannot find either one on the transmission/engine.  There is no power steering.  The restorer said he filled the hydraulic clutch reservoir with Wilwood DOT

2007 Turbo Hard Clutch at Start

I notice that my clutch pedal is hard when starting my 2007 911 Turbo (997.1) after it sits for a week. Once I fully depress the clutch pedal and start the engine, the pedal seems to get soft. Once the car is moving and I start shifting, I notice that the clutch pedal is pretty soft. I checked the Pentosin level in the front trunk area next to the battery and it was fine and there was no leakage. The car is stock and only has 11,000 miles on it. Is this normal or do I need to have it taken in? What could happen if I ignore this issue?

gear selector ouput seal leak (996)

I have a small leak on the passenger side of my manual transmission.  It is located where the gear selector output linkage connects to the transmission.  I haven't experienced any drivability issues, just a couple spots on my garage floor.  It looks as if one disconnected the shifter linkage it would just pop out in order to replace the seal.  I do know the previous owner had a short throw shifter kit installed previously, but not sure if that would make a difference.  Thanks in advance.

Ring and pinion

I'm looking to purchase a high mileage 2001 turbo with 112,000. The owner told me one of the items that require future service is the ring and pinion. He states its currently whinning a little. His mechanic told him that its does not need a ring and pinion right away but in another 30k or when the whinning gets louder. I called around town to see what it will take to fix this issue. One shop told me R&R of transmission then he would need to send out to have it rebuilt. Another states the ring & pinion can be replaced on this car without R&R of tranmission.
