968 headlights

Vehicle Information: Model(924/944/968): 968; Year: 1994; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 110,600;

The driver's headlight closes normally and the passenger side does not. The passenger side can easily be closed by pushing it down, indicating to me that the linkage has in fact retracted, but there seems to be too much friction in the arm that actually carries the light. Can I lubricate the pivot of this arm?

1994 968 Cabriolet top leak

Vehicle Information: Model(924/944/968): 968; Year: 1994; Body Type: Cabriolet; Total Mileage: 45000;

We have serious leakage from center to passenger side window frame, in hard rainstorms or when washing car with direct spray on top seal/windshield frame area. Seal looks good, and I have adjusted top/windshield frame clamps (not much adjustment available)to no avail. New seal costs $400+, so I want to be sure before purchase. Any tricks to installing the seal?

1994 968 Headlight won't retract

Vehicle Information: Model(924/944/968): 968; Year: 1994; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 110,500;

One of the headlights does not close. I have lubricated the rollers and linkage that open it, with no improvement. It seems as though the pivot on the arm that mounts the light is the problem. I have had little luck getting to that pivot. Do I need to remove the bumper cover (which I would rather not do)? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

1993 968 Front license plate holder

Vehicle Information: Model(924/944/968): 968; Year: 1993; Body Type: Cabriolet; Total Mileage: 67000;

I just got a 1993 cab from KY and it does not have a front plate holder that it required here in OH. Holes are spaced for european plates. Where do I get a conversion plate holder that will make the front look good?

1991 944S2 rear hatch release

Vehicle Information: Model(924/944/968): 944S2; Year: 1991; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 73,000;

I have had problems with the passenger side hatch release rod dropping out of its hole in the release 'disc' (located behind the key assembly). This results in having to climb back there and pull the rod back into place to open the hatch. I have tried to insert a plug to hold the rod in place, but have not found a system that really works longer than two months. Is there a good method of keeping this release rod in place?

1988 944 Turbo Exterior door handle/locks

Vehicle Information: Model(924/944/968): 944 Turbo; Year: 1988; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 130K;

Thanks for all your efforts in answering all our technical questions! Recently the driver's door handle on my 88 944 Turbo broke. There already is a seperate key for the doors and a different one for the ignition. I purchased a new door handle which has a new lock and key. As I am not a locksmith is there a way in which I can retain use of my old key in this new door handle so I won't end up having to carry three keys? If so how does one do this?

1991 944 Stone guards

Vehicle Information: Model(924/944/968): 944; Year: 1991; Body Type: Cabriolet; Total Mileage: 49,000;

My stone guards are in average shape. Should I replace them or is it okay (for the fenders) to simply take them off and leave them off? It seems like no other new car comes with guards; were 944's especially susceptible to stone chips?

water leak

Vehicle Information: Model(924/944/968): 944; Year: 1987; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 105302;

I just purchased a 1987 944 and this weekend after a heavy rainstorm I found the ashtray full of water. Do you have any idea as to where the water is coming from?

1991 944S2 Front license plate mount

Vehicle Information: Model(924/944/968): 944 S2; Year: 1991; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 72,000 miles;

I have just moved to MO (From FL) and now for the first time the car needs a front license plate. I have a pair of brackets(two piece) from an older 944, however I have no idea where to find the factory threaded holes to screw in to. I do not know of another S2 in the area. The shop I got the brackets from only had older noses also.
