1968 911S How to identify CAM Shaft?

Engine

Vehicle Information: Model: 911S; Year: 1968; Body Type: Coupe; Engine (type, size, modifications): 2.0L; Total Mileage: 50000;

I just removed the CAM shafts from my 1968 911S. The car being more than 30 years has gone thru many hands. Now, the problem is on the markings on the cam shafts, the part numbers are 901.105.109.01R and 901.105.110.01R. From the books I read, these are 1966 Solex CAMS, but my mechanic told me not to trust these "numbers". There is another marking "S" at the end of the shaft, and my mechanic told me Porsche used this marking instead of the 901.xxx numbers to identify "S" or "T" or other CAMS. Which is correct?
