1969 911T 2.7l flywheel and ring gear

Engine

Vehicle Information: Model: 911T soft window targa; Year: 1969; Body Type: Targa; Engine (type, size, modifications): 2.7l; Total Mileage: 82000;

I am converting to a 2.7 motor sometime down the road, and have already asked a related question (and gotten an excellent reply - thank you). Now I have a more specific question. I recently bought a new 2.7 flywheel. At the same time I ordered a used ring gear (the place didn't have new at the time). When they arrived, I noted that the ring gear is approx 1mm smaller ID than the flywheel OD. Do I need to get the flywheel extremely cold, and the ring gear red hot to mate the two, or do some machining? Can you give me advice on this please.
