1973 911T Driver's door hard to open

Body

Vehicle Information: Model: 911T; Year: 1973; Body Type: Coupe; Engine (type, size, modifications): 2.4; Total Mileage: 82000;

The driver's door on my '73 has suddenly become hard to open from the outside. With the door unlocked, when I pull the trigger in the door stays shut and it takes a few good hard pulls on the handle to get it to open. I lubed up the linkages inside the door but didn't get any improvement. The nylon plastic parts around the door striker plate may be broken. Do the striker plates need to be "perfect" in order to operate properly? Any suggestions?
