1974 911 Turn Signal Indicators Blinking Together

Electrical

Vehicle Information: Model: 911; Year: 1974; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 106,000;

Someone tried to steal the car by punching the ignition switch out with ascrewdriver. In the process some wires were pulled loose and shorted thedimmer switch in the turn signal assembly. I replaced the ignition switchand turn signal/dimmer assembly which all work fine. I also replaced allloose wires according to the Haynes manual. The only problem now is whenyou activate the turn signals, for the first two or three blinks theindicator in the tach indicates properly and then both indicators startblinking at about half brilliance but the out door lights are functioningproperly. I notice in the Haynes diagram that the common for the turnsignal indicators goes to the emergency flasher switch and then toground. I notice the indicators don't indicate when the emergencyflashers are activated. Maybe the emergency flasher switch is damagedalso or the flasher unit is faulty.
