1976 Targa windshield fit

Vehicle Information: Model: 911S; Year: 1976; Body Type: Targa; Total Mileage: 123K;

I recently read your response to a question about new seals for the windshield of an '84 Targa. Specifically, what latches are at risk? I recently restored my Targa (new OEM seals all around) and updated the front glass. I left the top alone because it's in great shape and I didn't want to fight new seals on both sides when I put the top on. However, the top fits very snug front to back and there is a 1/8" gap between the glass on the sides. I am hoping that when the weather warms and the vehicle has had time to "flex" that the seals will form to the top. Unfortunately, I didn't observe the installation of the front and rear glass. And, the restoration shop told me (afterwards) that the installers experience with Targas was "limited." Is there anything I should watch for? You have me concerned for my latches, but I don't know which ones.
