1978 911SC SSI Heat Exchanger Heat Duct

Engine

Vehicle Information: Model: 911 SC; Year: 1978; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 18000;

I have installed SSI heat exchangers and a dual-in single-out muffler andbackdated oil lines. Everything works fine. The only problem I have isthe 2 1/2" air duct on the driver's side that goes from the engine sheetmetal to the inlet of the new heat exchanger. The heat exchanger on theSSI's are different. I tried using the old aluminum duct but when Itrimmed it to a slightly shorter length, the bends were so tight that theduct un-raveled. I have tried to find a duct that was more flexible butall I came up with is some wire duct with a plastic cover. It appearsthat Porsche used aluminum duct on the driver's side because this ductgets very close to the heat exchanger and the muffler. I am concernedthat the plastic duct will melt. Do you have any suggestions on what touse? Should I just get another factory aluminum duct and try this again?
