1979 911SC Smoke

Engine

Vehicle Information: Model: 911 SC; Year: 1979; Body Type: Targa; Total Mileage: 114,000;

My wife owns a '79 911 SC with 114,000 miles on it. As she left a stopsign last week, smoke started billowing out of the rear of the car andthe oil tank gage bounced up to a full level. Something suddenlypressurized the case and blew oil into the intake system. Suspected abroken ring, but compression is 155-160, which sounds okay to me. Vacuumis 11 and steady on start-up, increasing to 13-14 inches and steady as itwarms up. Now, the case is not pressurized, smoke comes out of thetailpipe on start-up, and the heat exchangers start smoking as they warmup. Is the problem most likely a broken ring, or is there something elsethat I am over-looking?
