1980 911SC Alternator

Electrical

Vehicle Information: Model: 911SC; Year: 1980; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 96,000;

My alternator has gone bad. I took it to a local shop, and they said it cannot be rebuilt because the wiring on the stator is fried. It is a 70 amp Marchal with external VR. Odly, it did have the ground strap installed. What is the best replacement? Are rebuilt Marchal's available? Pelican has a 70 amp Bosch rebuilt for $170, and a 75 amp rebuilt Bosch for $197.50. Both have the internal VR. I have a copy of the technical bulletin regarding wiring changes and the resistor across the warning light circuit.
