1980 911SC cold start

Fuel System

Vehicle Information: Model: 911SC; Year: 1980; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 62000;

Car does not idle up on cold start like others I have had although it runs great warm. Timing,co correct,aux air regulator works now the weird part. This car has an aux air valve with a vacuum connection on it that makes it appear visually identical to the decel valve just behind it and the warm up regulator does NOT have a vacuum connection,different from any other year I have looked at. I think that the aux air valve is the problem because when I apply vacuum to the vacuum tube, it sucks air. Is this normal or is this vacuum supposed to be a timed or temp dependent function? The vacuum line has vacuum at both cold and warm operating temps. Vacuum at distributor works, distributor advance works, warm up regulator pressures check out okay. My manuals and aftermarket books have left me stumped and when I ordered a new valve from Stoddard they sent me one without the vacuum attachment. Help would be appreciated. I love this car and cant stand anything to be wrong with my baby.
