1982 911SC Alternator Problem

Vehicle Information: Model: 911 SC; Year: 1982; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 139,900;

I have an intermittent electrical problem that is perplexing me. I havenoted that after the car has been driven around 20 minutes (basicallywarmed up) and with the radio on, when accelerating, the radio will cutout due to a complete loss of power. Initially, I thought I had a groundproblem, but I recently drove my car at night when the above symptomswere occurring and I noted that when the radio was cutting out,concurrently, the headlights and instrument gauge lights were alsogetting substantially brighter. Further observation revealed thatbasically at idle RPM the vehicle had no symptoms, but with rev's aboveidle, the radio lost power and the lights got brighter. My initialfeeling is that the voltage regulator is the culprit, which likely wouldjustify replacing the alternator. All other electrical using componentsof the vehicle appear to be normal. The alternator light is notilluminated. I appreciate your comments.
