1982 911SC Starting Difficulty

Fuel System

Vehicle Information: Model: 911 Euro SC; Year: 1982; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 90,325;

I recently purchased a 1981 euro sc, with the air pump removed, to set up for the track and autocross. The car came from sea level to an altitude of 6,200 feet. It would stumble and die at stop lights etc., but like my other SC I was able to correct this by adjusting the idle speed. After driving the car for 20-30 minutes, when I attemp to restart it will not start. If I let it sit for an extended period of time, I am able to to start it. I don't know if I have a fuel mixture problem, vapor lock or what. How would you proceed to solve this problem? The nearest shop is over 300 miles.
