1982 Pop off valve

Vehicle Information: Year: 1982 Canadian car; Engine (Size, Modifications): 3.3; Total Mileage: 211,000km (125,000 miles) ;

Does the risk of CIS backfire and subsequent airbox failure apply to my 1982 930 as well as to the CIS cars in general? The engine will be out of the car for a gearbox refurb and installation of the updated tensioners and I want to take care of as many things as possible while its out. If it is recommended I will install the pop off valve at that time.Also, there are some big claims being made by advertisers for pflow systems. Aside from making the intake sound more aggressive, have the power claims been independantly substantiated as most of them seem too good to be true. Wouldn't just fitting a K&N filter to the stock airbox also provide a usefull gain? The car is otherwise completely stock.
