1983 911SC Front End Steering Noise

Suspension

Vehicle Information: Model: 911SC; Year: 1983; Body Type: Convertible; Total Mileage: 67,500;

During subtle, low speed turning maneuvers, (most often when the road iscrowned upward toward the right) the front right wheel makes a groaningor humming noise. The mechanic indicated that there was no bearing wear,but he noticed the left and right wheel play was different when removingthe wheels. I had both front wheel bearings inspected, cleaned, andreinstalled. However, the noise is still there, and now after severalweeks later it seems that there is some vibration in the steering likethe front end is out of alignment. What is the likely problem, and can Icheck/confirm it myself?
