1983 944 Heater Hoses

Heating and Ventilation

Vehicle Information: Model(924/944): 944; Year: 1983; Engine (type, size, modifications): 2.5 liter stock; Total Mileage: 110,000;

My nephew recently bought an '83 944 and although the car was in pretty good shape, there were a few areas that were a bit behind in preventive maintenance. One of the projects we decided on was to change all of the cooling system hoses. As is typical, some had been changed but others appeared to be quite old. We ordered the complete set of hoses from a Porsche dealer along with a new thermostat because the car ran a bit warm at idle.When the parts arrived we went to work. We drained and flushed the system and began removing the old hoses. We then realized that the hoses for the heater core disappear into the firewall with no hoseclamps in sight. We removed the plastic cover and the heater fan but all we could see was the top of the heater core. We removed th glove box and couldn't see anything there, nor could we see the hose clamps from under the dashboard. There isn't anything in the Haynes manual and we have not yet purchased the factory manual. What do we have to disasseble in order to get access to these hose clamps?
