1984 911 Carrera Clock Replacement

Interior

Vehicle Information: Model: 911 Carrera Cab.; Year: 1984; Body Type: Convertible; Engine (type, size, modifications): 3.2L, stock; Total Mileage: 160K;

My clock on my '84 911 Carrera Cab. has died. I've purchased the replacement for it, but I have no idea how to remove the old one & install the new one. I really don't do any work on the car myself, but I figured this was something I could handle. HAH!! When I removed the carpeting in the trunk & also the fiberboard structure be hind it (in front of the dash), I was confronted by a plethora of wires, tubes, motors (heater?), etc., but couldn't find any sign of the back of the clock. Is this a can of worms I don't want to open, or is the job simpler than it looks? If the latter...how do I do it?
