1984 911 Carrera Engine Knocking Noise

Engine

Vehicle Information: Model: 911 Carrara; Year: 1984; Body Type: Targa; Engine (type, size, modifications): 6-cyl, 3.2, All Stock; Total Mileage: 134,000;

I drove my 911 to work yesterday and it ran perfect. I let it sit in thedriveway for 3 hours and then started it to put it in the garage. Theengine had a loud "tap, tap, tap," constant hollow rattle noise. Itstarted and ran ok for say 20 seconds. I stopped it and then restartedit and pulled the car into the garage. It was still quite noisy. It ranonly a total of less than 1 minute. The car had over 1 bar of pressure atidle and the temp. was less than half on the dial. No oil lights wereon. I checked the oil and it was at one-half on the dipstick (no metalflakes in oil). The last oil change was over 6 months ago. I havedriven the car less than 1000 miles. I only use the stock Mahle oilfilter and 20-50 Mobile 1. My Haynes manual says knocking noises arebearings, valves, or timing chain related. Should I try to start the caragain cold and see if the noise is gone?What is the recommended list things to ask the dealer to check.1. valves2. bearings3. timing chain tensionersDo the oil fed tensioners fail often?If they do will this cause the noise?What is the typical replacement / repair cost to expect?
