1984 944 Radio intermittant power

Vehicle Information: Model(924/944): 84' 944; Year: 1984; Engine (type, size, modifications): stock; Total Mileage: 193,000;

My radio has been cutting in and out for a long time. I finally decieded to fix this. After pulling the radio in and out several times and ensuring all of the connections in the back were connected solidly I decieded to run a wire from a fuse that was controlled by the ingition switch to the radio power directly. When trying to find this fuse I noted that the ignition key was turning the radio on and off with a little movement. I replaced the ingition switch but the problem is still there. I have read about a relay in the passenger compartment that controls the radio. I have heard that it is expensive and very hard to find. Do you agree with this and if so what fuze should I just run a direct wire to the radio from? The constant power line that ensures the memory in the radio stays is working fine. The movable roof works find and so does the door chime.
