1985 911 Carrera drop in horsepower

Vehicle Information: Model: 911; Year: 1985; Body Type: Coupe; Engine (type, size, modifications): 3.4 twin plug; Total Mileage: re-pistoned last year;

I replaced my 10:5:1 with 12:5:1 my dyno run has the horsepower down 20 hp and leveling off at 5800. I run only race gas .I am wondering if this high of compression will have any long or short term problems. Where should I begin checking,I was hearing that the ignition timing should be retarded, I don't know what this accomplishes. We are going to check cam timing, and I was wondering if the cam might be a good place to upgrade. The engine is running 46 webers as well.I watch Jerry Woods motors at events run extremely well with carbs so I know it can work. Thank you for any advice.
