1985 911 Carrera Gauge Problems

Electrical and Electronic

Vehicle Information: Model: 911 Carrera; Year: 1985; Body Type: Targa; Engine (type, size, modifications): 3.2; Total Mileage: 113,000;

I am having some problems with a few of my gauges and need some helpidentifying where the problems are with each gauge. The tachometer andspeedometer are inaccurate and the odometer and clock do not work at all.Also, I only have a light in the bottom of the clock and it is difficultto see at night. Should the clock not be illuminated all the way around?I am wondering if it could be a coincidence that all the gauges arehaving problems or if there could be a related problem. Here are thedetails:The car drives fine but the tachometer does not go below 1000 rpm, evenwhen the engine is turned off. Then, it sticks at about 3,800 rpms if Iam not accelerating quickly and at about 5,200, when it does not stick,the rev limiter kicks in. The speedometer measures about 10 mph fast whenit is going 40 mph and seems to get worse the faster I go. Both theseproblems existed when I bought the car. The odometer and clock bothfailed just recently and I noticed them at the same time. Also of note,the faces are white instead of the stock black, there is no shift lightindicator on the tach, and the clock is a quartz clock (I thought theywere electric) so I think they have been modified.
