I am having intermittent starter problems again, 1. I put in a new solenoid, OK for a couple weeks,2. replaced the starter with an used one, OK for 2 months.3. Can I put a relay to reduce the voltage drop across the line that feeds the starter's solenoid? A friend Charlie Swanson tells me that he tried that on his 87 and could not do it without removing the relay for the air conditioner. Any advice?4. Are intermittent starters a common problem with this series of 83-87's 911's? I think part of the problem may be the long cables from the battery/starter switch (front of the car)to the starter (rear). 5. What kind of high temperature grease can I use for the ball bearings in the Starter/solenoid? Will the Dow-corning Hi-temp grease provide sufficient lubrication? The starter gets pretty hot from thermal conductivity to the Engine.
